20 Great Games for a Kid's Christmas Party

Pass the Parcel -This is a standard game for all parties. Pass the parcel around the circle, when the music stops, the child holding the parcel unwraps one layer until all of the layers have been unwrapped.

Snowman Wrap - Split children into groups and give them a few rolls of toilet roll and the items to make a snowman. One child will be turned into a snowman by the team mates within a specified time. Teachers can judge the winner at the end of the game.

Christmas Corners - Place 4 Christmas pictures at each corner of the room. Children dance to music and when the music stops they choose a corner to stand in. The teacher then selects from 4 cards and the corner selected will be out.

Christmas Charades - Give children a card with a Christmas word or phrase on Children take turns to act out their card while the other children guess what is written on the card.

Pin the Nose on Rudolph - A twist on Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Blindfold children, spin them around and see who can pin the red nose closest to Rudolph's nose.

Penguin Walk - Split children into teams and give each team a balloon. Children place their balloon between their legs and do the  penguin walk between the cones, repeating until each team member has had a turn. The fastest team wins.

Guess the Song - Hum the tune of a Christmas song and children sing the next line or guess the name of the song.

Musical Freeze - dance to some Christmas tunes and when the music stops, children freeze. Those who move are out of the game.

Santa Says - If you say 'Santa says...'  the children follow the direction given, but if you don't say the words 'Santa says...' children shouldn't follow the direction. If they do, they are out.

Ornament and Spoon - Split children into teams and give each team a spoon and a bauble. Children race around cones  until all of their team have had a turn. The fastest team wins.

Santa Scavenger Hunt - Hide some Christmas related items around the classroom and give children clues to find them.

Snowball Toss - Place cups on a table and roll up paper to make a snowball. Children take turns at tossing the snowball into the cup.

Christmas Cookie Decorating - Give children a ready-made Christmas cookie and let them decorate it.

Christmas Bauble Decorating - Let children decorate their own Christmas bauble to take home.

Santa Skittles - Place some Christmas themed skittles on the floor and children take turns to see who can knock over the most by rolling a ball. It you don't have skittles you could paint paper cups.

Mars Bar Race - Split children into teams and give each team a hat, scarf and gloves and place a Mars Bar at the other side of the room. Children dress for winter then cut a piece of the Mars Bar before returning to their team. Continue the game until all of the Mars Bar has gone. The quickest team wins.

What's in the Box? - Make a feely box filled with Christmas items. Children each have a feel and guess what is inside. The child that gets the most correct items wins.

Reindeer Races - Give children antlers to wear and a box and lots of toy. Children transport all of the presents to Santa's sleigh (the box) and the team that fills the sleigh the quickest is the winner.

Reindeer Ring Toss - Place antlers on the floor and give children rubber rings. Children toss the rings and aim to get them onto the antlers.

Guess Who - Give children a Christmas word to place on their head. Children ask yes or no questions to find out who they are.
